HATE LETTER AGAINST FILIPINOS - part 2
MY REACTION:
FACTS:
- Filipinos migrate to lots of different countries to work and find a decent mode of living.
- Filipinos don't have its own complete "Identity".
- The Filipino people are welcoming and open people.
- The Philippines is geographically located in ASIA, therefore basically PINOYS / PINAYS are actually ASIANS.
- Pinoys / Pinays strongly believe in the concept of tradition, culture as well as love of self and country. So they practice patriotism and the concept of gratitude or "utang na loob."
REASONS OR CAUSES BEHIND THE FACTS:
- We migrate to different countries and decide to build careers in countries outside our own because first: sad to say but the Philippines is not an economically stable country; second: there are better opportunities and benefits that can be found and availed abroad.; third: We aim high, so we strive hard... and I don't see anything wrong in wanting to seek greener pastures; last but not the least: We are highly educated people, thus we can compete and bump shoulders with other nationalities in the global market. We need not limit our growth for we have too many capabilities to spread and share.
- Filipinos don't have an "authentic identity" per se because in the history of our country we have been conquered by a lot of different nations so our culture and our society have been influenced by a diversity of tradition and beliefs. It may have its negative effects but it certainly has its good ones as well. Our culture has become richer because of its many ancestries and our people have become open minded and stronger not only as individuals but as a nation. We may have mixed different traditions belonging to other countries in our process to find our own Identity but we certainly made our mark and created our own character from it; making a unique and original Filipino culture on its own.
- The Filipino people are basically generous, welcoming and open people. We welcome everything and everyone whole heartedly. We accept change and ideas with open arms. This may have been harmful at times especially when it came to finding our own Identity and building our country independently, but it also helped stamp our way to the hearts of many visitors and foreigners not only in the Philippines but in other parts of the world as well.
- As for our "category"... we are in fact ASIAN! Geographically speaking we are mapped in Asia. So accept it or not we are, no doubt Asian. We may not have chinky eyes or be experts in martial arts or samurai swords but still we are in fact Asians. We might not have left as great a mark as "The Great Wall in China" by the Chinese or conquered countries like The Japanese people did in history but in our own little way made contributions to the world. Believe it or not the fluorescent lamp / light was actually invented by a Filipino. Local investors have also found numerous ways to minimize gasoline usage and instead maximize natural energy use through alternative power sources. The only sad part is that our people are not as blessed as other nationalities out there. We do not have enough resources mainly funding and our government doesn't have the capability to support our local inventors so we are forced to seek foreign funding in order to further our studies and produce quality inventions and products. In the end they (foreign investors) end up taking credit for actual Filipino innovations. So are the great racing cars in the States, like in the movie too fast too furious, it may have been originally Japanese but we have also excelled in that field. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that.
- Pinoys / Pinays have great love not only for self but for country as well. We give strong emphasis to the concept of gratitude or "utang na loob" primarily because it is our culture and our nature as Filipinos. We respect and treasure what ever country we have become a part of or grown and benefited from, so in return we stay loyal and patriotic not only to our original roots which is the Philippines but also to the country where we are in. So it is not surprising that for example Fil-Ams try to serve America by joining the American Navy, etc... It is simply a way of repaying the country that have served as our second home or became a home as much as the Philippines actually is.
So you see Mr. Bell or to other people like Mr. Bell, you must not precede to judge something or someone on the basis of what you merely see on the surface. You must come to understand fully its essence so as to not come into a preempted conclusion that does not completely grasp the concept of that which you are trying to critique. I pray that you look deep into yourself and reflect on why you have wasted your time and effort on creating something that enraged a nation that has been silent all along. I hope that before you proceed to judging others and pointing out there weak points you look at yourself in the mirror and wonder if you, yourself have no fault of his own. I just hoped that you have used your education and your powerful position on things that have been of worth and high moral value instead of degrading other people. Respect others and you shall gain respect from them, that's what I believe. Racism is never a solution to anything. God speed! Mabuhay! Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino!
